Jude had been fighting it for weeks. He had found every excuse in the book and used it and still here he was, in the grocery store, an apron around his waist and a large supply of cereal boxes waiting to be stocked next to him. Yeah, that's right, Jude Rockefeller had gotten a job, much to his chagrin. However they just couldn't live on the money their parents sent. Their house took up a pretty penny and then there was the gas for the car, the utilities, diapers, formula, all the stuff for Molly and Natalie. They just couldn't do it so they had to get jobs, Scout had school, Brinley was taking care of the kids so that meant Jude had to get one. Brinley was going to do her best but they'd added it up and they'd lose more money than they made if they put the girls in daycare, so Scout was also going to see about getting something part time.
That was why Jude was there, stocking sugary cereals one behind the other in the aisle, trying to pretend he didn't noticed the little kid throwing a tantrum because his mother wouldn't buy him the chocolate poptarts.

Victoria pushed a shopping cart down the aisle, looking at all the cereal she had to choose from. She wore a pair of low rise jeans and a Panic at the Disco T-shirt, her hair edgy and falling in her face. She saw the little child and sighed, rummaging through her purse and pulled out a lollipop, handing it to him and dabbing his tears, his mother thanking her, grateful. She smiled and nodded, continuing to walk, reaching up for a box of cereal near Jude. She gave him a soft smile, tossing back her hair and situating her stuff in her cart, checking the box of cereal off her list.
