CHAPTER ONE
Hello Goodbye
Hello Goodbye
Hellooooooo!! My name is May, May Apples. Mmhmm, that's right. I have a brother named Lexx and a mother and father. They're all so lovely. If you ask anyone, life isn't fair or puppies and kittens.
It's a hard-knock life, sort of speak. Here I am to tell a tale of moi. Let's have a view from where I stand.
I was born in California and have lived there all my life. It's been my home for a long time. From the start I have originially been a colorless girl. White hair, red eyes, an albino. My mother had me dye my hair brown and made me often wear glasses. I was never allowed to go outside for recess, or on any school trips.
The sun is my enemy that is stronger, bigger, and dangerous. It's never really been great. My dad was always distant from me. You know how when you're at a restaurant and there's a kid in a wheelchair, it's just a little weird or you get nervous all of a sudden? To him, it was constant. He would try to avoid me and never came to my plays, concerts...it was like he had divorced me. You get it?
I've always loved singing but never have played infront of people with the power to make me famous. I have a soft voice, like a lullaby tone. Now here's a little fun-fact about me, I remember everything. Ever since I was five I can recall everything. Every song I've heard, every book I have, and every little memory is rock solid in my head. Weird, huh?
No one really knows this about me. I mean, no one's asked although people do compliment me on my "photographic" memory. But it's just something about me that makes me.
Oh yeah, there's another thing about albinism that's just a nightmare. You have to pick who you are. You know how blondes are prone to be more girlish, red heads are more passionate...it's like I have to choose my hair color and eye color. It feels...artificial.
Alright but let's get back to my history. Around twelve my brother, Lexx, was becoming like my dad. Unfamiliar. It scared me. I love my brother, he's been my bestfriend since forever. Being albino I don't make much friends since I can't do much outside activities. I live a literal sheltered life. Lexx's uneasiness made me upset and my mom knew this. She'd have us do things to have us bond or whatever. I enjoyed them, but Lexx didn't as much.
I begun to realize I couldn't have my only friendship be my brother. My mom had me start dance lessons. Ballet, waltz, tango, foxtrot, I know 'em all. It didn't take long for me to become a master. Dance class was where I met Seth.
