My Story Starts Like This....
Chapter 1
On January 15th, 1991, Faithlyn Grace Springs was born. Yep. That's me. I'm Faithlyn, and I'm now 16 years old living with my sister Opal who is 13. Sure, I have parents. But they are just a memory to me now. I am now on my own and living each day of my life just a step at a time. I can't tell my story quickly like I have in the past. Here is where you're going to get to know every little detail that makes up my life today. Every little detail is a little piece of what makes me the way I am. I'll start when everything seemed to go wrong....
The day is May 16th, 1996. I was just 5 years old and barely getting a taste of life. My mother was so fresh, beautiful, and joyous. My fahter, well, I'm not so sure about. All I remember was this very day. The last time I ever had to at least remember what he was like. And I have no clue at all.
I was sitting on the couch in my living room reading a Dr. Suess book. I always loved his books even though I couldn't read all of the words. My mother read most of the time, but when she couldn't, I tried to read on my own. Anyway, I was trying to read when I heard the phone wring. Nothing new. But then I heard dead silence. There was no noise. At all. Nothing. I looked up and tried to listen closer, but there was still no sound. I put down my book and walked into the kitchen where I found my mother standing there with the phone to her ear. Just standing there is such utter shock. She didn't move a muscle or say a word.
"Mommy?" I called in a hushed voice. She didn't even look down at me. My vision started to blur with tears. "Mommy?" I asked again in a panicy voice. Tears started to come down my face. But she still didn't move. I ran back into the living room and got up on the couch and buried my head in fear. I didn't know what was going on or what had just happened. All I knew was that my sweet mother had just froze in shock and she wouldn't answer me. What was a little girl to do? I sat there and waited. She finally came into the living room and picked me up. She placed my cheek up against hers. It was wet, so I knew she was crying.
"What's wrong?" I asked upset. She looked at me. "Honey, daddy....daddy had to leave somewhere. He's not going to come back" she said as she started to weep. I didn't know what she meant. "Mommy stop it! You're scaring me!" I yelled trying wriggle out of her arms. She eventually let me go. I ran up to my room and cried myself to sleep.
A few weeks after that incident, I realized what my mother meant. My daddy was never going to come back. She meant exactly what she said. He was gone forever....[/color]
