Derek picks up his phone and calls Lillian. He awaits for her to pick it up. He walks over to the couch, sits down and watches some commercials. He kept hearing it ring, hoping she will pick it up.

Lillian was in the supermarket restocking her empty fridge when she heard her cell go off. She reached into her purse and pulled out her razr, "Hello?" she spoke into the phone as she pushed the cart with her children around the store.

" Happy Valentine's Day. " Derek told her. What if she didn't know it was him? " It's Derek by the way. " He added softly. He stood up, and walked over to the window seat and sat down, waiting for a response.

The voice on the other line was familair, but she couldn't quite put a face to it. "Thanks? You too." she replied to the seemingly stranger. She pondered the thought of who the other line person was for a moment before she heard him say it was Derek. 'Oh great, he must be less than thrilled with me.' she thought to herself as she walked over to the fridge for an ice cold water bottle.

As Derek talked Lillian bit her lip, 'He just had to bring up the banquet didn't he?' she asked herself. "Oh, your welcome. Thanks for being such a fun escort." she replied as she uncapped her water bottle. She sighed, "Yea, about me leaving, I had a good reason. It was a life and death situtation, someone really needed me." she told him, not willing to give any more details on the subject. "But yea, thanks for calling." she told him.

Lillian kept the silence for a minute or so, wondering if he was smiling at her, forgetting that she couldn't see him. Hello? It's called a phone, you can't see people through it, maybe in the future, but not yet. "So, yeah. I'm glad you understand." she replied, trying to think of a new subject to talk about. "So....what's on your agenda for the night?" she asked him softly, before coughing. She un lidded her watter bottle again and took a sip.

Lillian smiled, giggling at the thought of asking him out. "Oh me? Well nothing yet, but I'm taking my kids out to the Chuck E.Cheese in a bit." she replied, wondering if he thought she was actually going to ask him out. Nu uh, it's the guys who do the asking and the girls who either accept or deny. She played with the water bottle lid, screwing it on, and unscrewing it.

"M...maybe." Lillian replied, refusing to be like a guy and do the asking out. That's NOT how she rolled. No sir. She continued fiddling with her water bottle, turning the lid tight, and loosening it. Just as a pass time while she waited for her kids to awake from their naps. As soon as they awoke she would get them ready to see Chuck. E.Cheese, every youngens dream. Well, that and Mickey Mouse, who they were seeing this summer.

"Oh good, your coming. Well like I said, were leaving once they wake from their naps." she replied, thinking about a good time to tell him to meet her there. She glanced at the clock, it was going on one thirty. "How about, say three? two thirty?" she replied, knowing that they'd be up within the next hour, as always.
