All day long, something had felt off to Yale. She kept feeling like something bad was going to happen. Finally, she decided to take a bike ride to clear her mind. Feeling the pedals beneath her flip flops, she felt a rush of adrenaline. She felt like a bird, free to do whatever her heart wanted. And after the breakup mess with Parker, that sure felt good. Closing her eyes, and putt her arms out to her side, she gave a small shriek of excitement.
Suddenly, she felt the road hitting her side, the tiny pebbles hit her. She felt a heavy pain pass over her. She couldn't open her eyes. She felt herself slipping into unconsciousness.

Parker Lucas tossed the baseball into the air, catching it in his palm, over and over. Suddenly, the phone rang, startling him. "H-hello?" Parker asked. "Is this Parker Lucas?" A female voice replied. "Yeaaaaah..." Parker asked, unsure of who this person was. "This is the hospital. Do you know of a Yale Mackenzie, about 15 years old, brown hair, slightly tall?" The nurse asked. "Yes..." Parker said. "You were this first number on her cell phone. Can you come to the hospital. And bring Miss Mackenzie's parents or guardians?" The voice said, crisply. "Yeah. I'll be there as soon as possible." Parker said, meaning it.

A seventeen year old girl entered the hospital after hearing about a girl who got into a bike accident, similar to one she had endured a few years ago. Kaci had been chasing her boyfriend on her bike, a few summers ago, when all of a sudden, she did a flip over the handle bars and landed straight down on her back. She was in a back brace for months. With the do-gooder of a sister Kaci had, she had decided to come offer friendship to this unfortunate girl, bringing the flowers her sister had bought, with her. Kaci must have admitted, bringing flowers to another girl was very unusual, but her sister persisted that she deliver them on her visit, "You can't visit someone in the hospital without bringing flowers to their bedside", her sister had argued.
As she entered through the doors, she walked over to the 'help desk', " Hi, I'm Kaci and I'm here to deliver these flowers to a girl named Yale who was recently brought here after suffering from a biking accident.", she introduced. The receptionist looked up and told Kaci to wait a minute while she further investigated the case, "I'm sorry but Miss ___ is not accepting visitors at this time. If you want though, I can see to it that she gets these lovely flowers for you.", the receptionist answered. Kaci sighed, "OK then, never mind.", she replied as she took a seat in the waiting room, " I just have to call my sister to pick me up.", she explained.

Parker, who was sitting in the waiting room, waiting for Yale's sister to show up, saw Kaci, and decided to introduce himself. "Hey. I'm Parker. I'm also waiting for them to let visitors up to Yale's room." he said, offering a smile.

Meanwhile, up in Yale's room, the doctor was about to have a heart attack. Mainly because, they weren't sure if Yale was going to ever awake. Somewhere in Yale's subconscious, she was aware of what was going on. Her eyelids felt like weights, and her body felt sluggish, like it was underwater. She could hear the words "No visitors. This is not good. Are her parents here yet?" being murmured. She wanted to wake up, she really did, but she just felt too tired...

Kaci blushed a little bit when Parker decided to introduce himself, "I-I'm Kaci.", she managed to get out. Boy was he cute. Kaci smiled at him, "Do you know if she's ok? Are you her brother?" she suddenly blurted out, finding it hard to stay quiet around him. When Kaci was nervous, she talked...so you see where she is coming from.

Parker smiled at Kaci. "No, I'm her, uh, friend." He said, not really wanting to say he was Yale's exboyfriend. Because, that would probably cause some questions as to why he was here, and not off burning pictures of Yale or something. "And, they won't let anyone go up to her room until her sister gets here, so I guess we're stuck here waiting." Parker added.

Kaci raised an eyebrow at Parker when he sounded unsure of himself, "Just her friend?", she teased with a playful smile. A nurse came down and asked Kaci if she was related to Yale, "No, sorry." she replied with a sigh, just wanting to go up and say hello so she could be on her way. But...at least she wasn't alone, "So do you know exactly what happened to her?", she questioned sympathetically.

"From what I hear, she fell off her bike, and someone hit her with a car. I don't really know," Parker said, shrugging his shoulders. He slipped his hand into his jeans' pocket and pulled out a pack of gum. "Want some?" He asked Kaci.

Usually Kirsten wouldn't take gum from "strangers", but she decided to make an exception for Parker, he seemed nice enough, "Yea, sure...thanks.", she replied with a smile. She listened to him and couldn't believe Yale's bad luck, "Oh my gosh, a car hit her? Poor thing. I hope my flowers comfort her.", she responded with a frown. The situation was even more serious than she had thought.

"Knowing Yale she's probably already yelling at the doctors to let her go." Parker said, as a lame attempt as a joke. Finally, Yale's sister walked through the enterance. "Yale's sister is here. Maybe they'll let us up now." Parker told Kristen, and he walked up to Blair, Yale's sister, ready to ask the receptionist if they could finally go up.

Kirsten politely laughed at his rather lame joke, "Oh her sister's here? You should ask her to see if we can go up..--", she responded right before Parker walked up to Blair. Kirsten just smiled and awaited the answer. While she waited, she picked up a waiting room magazine and began skimming the celebrity gossip.

After hearing the okay from the receptionist, Parker walked back to Kristen. "She gave us the all-okay." He said, offering her a hand to help her up. In the back of his mind, he could pratically hear Yale saying to stop the lame attemps of flirting. Well, as long as Yale's asleep, I can do whatever I want, Parker thought.
