The familiar Christmas tune rang in a man's, looking not over 27, head. He hadn't been in Ocean Springs for forever and a day ago. He had moved away. Just as his sister had did. To escape the memories. Some good and some bad. Obviously the bad outlasted the good. From love to tears and everything in between, he had experienced it in the town. Death, Birth. But love kept him strong and made him remain in the topsy turvy town. But love was also the reason why he had to leave. He had felt peace once in this town. But in an instant it was all gone, forcing him to leave and live with his sister in another town, because love made her leave as well. It was a small family himself, his sister, and her twins of only 1 years old. Why come back? Well he had to get away to buy Christmas presents for his niece and nephew and he wanted to see if anything has changed in this small town. It was just after noon. He was halfway done with his shopping arrends to buy a mocha to get him through the rest of the tiring shopping day. His name? Justin Rob Christensen.

After ordering his mocha from the teenage girl at Starbucks he sat down and looked around. The mall was busy with procrastinators trying to busily get the last of their shopping done. Some of them, arms full of shopping bags, were scurrying around as fast as they couhld from store to store. Others like himself, had stop from their shopping experience to grab some coffee, or a quick lunch before continuing on with their day. As his mocha was delivered his blew carefully over the top of it like a little child to cool it down. He was childlike and calm. Unlike the last of his old days here. He was a wreck. He still was. Justin wouldn't admit it though. He was a wreck to this very day but he became a pro at hiding his feelings. He had been a mess since he split with Gaby. Gabriella{e?} Summers. His ex-fiance. She was his whole world once. Before he had made a big mistake and left. Left her, his unborn child, and his new baby girls. He was going to leave. He couldn't remember why anymore. He hated himself to this very day, and missed her more then Justin could explain. She still had the other half him. He needed her. Life just wasn't the same not waking up next the most beautiful woman, kissing her soft lips. He had made a big mistake, that he could never be forgiven for. As hard as Justin tried, he couldnt get her out of his head, after all the months apart he couldnt help but cry himself to sleep. He had lost everything. How could something as good as their relationship end in the blink of an eye. He didnt get it. Oh wow he longed to just see her. Her bright smile. The one he fell in love with so very long ago. It seemed so distant. So far away. She was gone, along with most of her memories. And it was killing Justin. Every second she was gone....

Christmas time was here again and all the people of Ocean Springs seemed to be out and about grabbing last minute presents for their loved ones. Everyone and their uncle was probably clogging the roads, so Gaby had awoken at dawn to get a good start on the many "early bird sales" the town had to offer. The twins were nearly three years old now, and her son was almost two. They were growing up way too quickly and Gaby just could not keep up with their demands. For a while, Gaby thought she had her life under control. For just a little while everything seemed to be on her side...not anymore. The day Justin left was the last day of Gaby's life as she knew it. The following day was the equivalent to the birth of a "new Gaby."

Before I tell you about the "new Gaby", let's take a quick trip to visit the "old Gaby." The old Gaby was very caring and open hearted. The old Gaby was unbearably head over heels in love with what she then thought was a wonderful man. That Gaby was innocent and unsuspecting of a cruel world. A mother to two at that point, with a seemingly faithful father figure at her side.

Reality check. This was the present time and the old Gaby was long gone. Now I can introduce you to the "new Gaby." The new Gaby is a single mother to three beautiful children. The new Gaby is still caring, but not at all open-hearted. Instead of being innocent and unaware, her eyes have been opened. Above all, the new Gaby is broken-hearted.

At the same time, the new Gaby had a lot of shopping to do and only a few days left until her kids would expect piles of presents under the Christmas tree (she has yet to cut down.) Where had the time gone? How was an entire year almost nearly over? These thoughts trailed along in her mind as she stopped for a coffee break at the mall food court. Before she could continue her frantic shopping spree, she needed to re-fuel and unwind with a nice cup of peppermint mocha, that was calling her name. If only Santa Claus was real....

He tapped his index finger along to the beat of the overhead Christmas tune. Pausing at times to sip his mocha. He looked about to the many people. None of them looking familiar. As scanning the crowds he spied a young couple holding hands walking slowly among the stores. He was jealous. Why did he have to be so stupid and ruin everything. Everything. Erika wasn't the same to wards him. Nothing was the same. He sighed and took a long sip of his mocha. He glanced down at his bags on the ground next to him. A few outfits for the twins and some toys were among his only findings. He was a loser when a it came to shopping. Well he should get on his way. He didn't have all day.

He sipped the rest of his mocha and picked up his bags and made his way over to the trash. He made it over to the counter and eyed the brownies. He did have a sweet tooth. Brownies with peppermint. Yum. He got back in line behind a lady with long brown hair to buy his brownie. The lady looked somewhat familiar, but he couldn't exactly tell because he hadn't seen her face. But he was too fixed on getting his brownie he didn't care.

The Christmas rush had hit and what should have taken two minutes was now taking ten and going. Normally coffee would be a quick order and go sort of thing, but on Christmas eve, coffee was the one thing all the shoppers demanded, so the task of getting some was a time waster. All she could do was stand in line, tapping her foot to pass the wasted time. A voice called out behind her, "Come on Gabs, the girls want to get to grandma's and Collin won't stop fussing!", it shouted. Gaby quickly turned around to discover Kaci and the kids walking toward her. She was so fixtated on them, that she somehow didn't pay any attention to the man behind her (who she would later identify and flee as fast as she could, hopefully)

McKenzie and McKayla ran toward their mother as Kaci strayed behind them with the stroller, "I told you two to stay in the stroller, your mother didn't buy a triple stroller for no reason you know!" she shouted. At this point Gaby was so fed up with waiting for some coffee that she left the line and strolled toward her family.

(Sorry mine isn't much better, it's the after Christmas tiredness ><)
