Connor had gotten a job at the Coffee Beanery in a desperate attempt to show his dad he didn't need the 'Winslet Money'. He didn't want to work at Starbucks, but he really wanted to works in a coffee house, mostly so he could sneak samples every onw and again. The only thing he hadn't counted on was his sister showing up and being the super brat she had a habit of being. Colby had shown up and ordered an iced coffee, a very specfic one with one and a half shots of this and that. his co-workers found it amusing, Connor, however, found it annoying.
He handed Colby the drink and watched as she took a small sip of it. "okay i approve." She smiled at him. He glared at her and giggled, taking a seat near the counter. "Hey did you hear? Mom wants us home by like... five or so she's invited someone over. Can't remember who."[/color] Connor rolled his eyes at his younger sister. He hated when his mom invited people for dinner.

Reese Highland walked into the Coffee Beanery, slightly distracted. To be totally honest, he hated coffee, but his mother loved it, and usually she made Reese stop by and get some. Reese walked up to the ordering station, and noticed two siblings talking. The girl vaguely reminded Reese of his girlfriend-slash-neighbor, Coco. After he ordered, he might go say hi to the girl, because he knew just about everyone in town, but he didn't reconize her.

"Who'd she invite?" Connor asked. Colby just shrugged and looked at the person walking in. She vaguely recognized him as someone from... around. Connor followed her sightline and took his place at the counter. "Hey, what can I get you?" He looked at the clock behind the other boy's head, he was actually willing it to go slower. "what can I get you?" Colby piped up mockingly. Okay, faster until Colby left, then much slower. "You're funny." Connor deadpanned. "I do what I can." Colby laughed.

"Uhm, just plain coffee." Reese told the guy, making a face. The coffee smell was starting to get to Reese, he absolutely hated it. Turning to the girl, Reese smiled and said "Hey, are you new here? I haven't seen you around, and I've lived here my whole life..." Reese said, glancing up at the clock.

"Thank god." Connor said, going about pouring a cup. Colby looked at the boy and shook her head. "No actually I've lived here forever... sort of. I mean, I've been going to boarding schools since like... birth, so I havn't been here for the school year." She took a sip of her coffee and crossed her legs. "I'm Colby." She added, tucking a strand of glossy blonde hair behind her ears.

That would explain why, Reese thought. "And I'm Reese," he replied. It was almost five, which meant that his parents were going to drag him to some meeting or whatever. He mentally sighed, wanting to go home and take a nap or something.

"Here's your coffee." Connor said, holding out the styro-paper cup. It wasn't styrofoam, but it wasn't paprer, it was some material that was supposedly very bio-degradable. "yeah, I spend my summers here... usually..." Colby shrugged. Sometimes she went to Paris to stay with her grandmere. "But I don't know a lot of people" Which would be why she spent a lot of summers in Paris with Grandmere.

"Thanks," Reese said to the guy. Turning back to Colby, he said "My parents are dragging me to some meeting or whatever in a few minutes. I guess I better be going," He said apoligeticly. He didn't want to go, because he might have a new friend.

Colby looked at her brother, his shift ended soon, and she knew they needed to get going too... if she went with Connor he could drive her, but he was boring and smelled like hazelnut which made Colby a little sick. She grabbed her purse, placing her coffee cup on the counter in front of Connor. "Good i'll go with you. It beats walking alone or riding with the Human hazelnut." She grinned, sliding her purse up to her shoulder, heading for the door.

Rese smiled at Colby "Hazelnut?" He asked, teasingly, as they walked towards the door. Being the geltleman he was, Reese held the door open fot Colby and they walked out into the summer heat. He honestly did not understand how his mother could drink scorching hot coffee when it was 90 degrees out.

Colby laughed and walked with him "I hate the smell of hazelnut, it makes me sick." She admitted. A lot of smells made her sick, but hazelnut was in the top ten of that list. "Honestly, anyone walking around in this heat should be commited... and I do include myself in that." She pulled her hair off of her neck for a while as they went. "So where do you live?" She asked.

"I live in Westeria Lane," Reese said, refferring to the ritzy neighborhood. "And I hate hazelnut too. In fact I hate any type of coffee, I only come there to get some for my mother," Reese said with a small smile. The late afternoon sun was bright, and Reese wished he had brought his sunglasses.

"Awesome I live there too." Colby smiled "No going out of my way." She let the blond locks fall back down over her neck. "Well the Hazelnut and I'm not fond of listening to my brother go on and on about how working at the Coffee Bean place is a step towards independance and blah blah blah when in reality he's submitting to my dad's will because by now dad has so realized connor goes out of his way to... wow that was lame and I doubt you care... I just really don't like it when my brother speaks." Colby pressed her lips together and looked down at her shoes. She was getting into the smart thing, but that was a no, this summer she was just going to be Colby Winslet, a completely normal person, not the girl that ruined the curve so horribly that she had to be sent to a special school for smart kids.

Reese laughed slightly at her rambling. "Naw, it's interesting to listen to other people," He said. "I live about a block away. You?" He asked as they entered the ritzy gated neighborhood. Glancing at his cell phone's clock, he saw that he had ten minutes to get home.

Colby nodded. "About two blocks the same way." She jumped about five feet in the air when Connor sped by, flipping his younger sister the bird. "The human Hazelnut says get home soon or mom'll throw a fit." Colby rolled her eyes as he drove away. "I really don't like it when he speaks." She smiled, continuing on the walk.
