Derek picks up the phone. Is this the right thing to do? I sure hope so. He thinks. He dials Lillians seven digit number and waits. " Please pick up. " He says to himself. He hopes, and hopes that she will because he'd like to talk to her, and he feels really bad. He needed to appologize, and was wishing she'd forgive him. Time would tell. He tapped his finger on the dining room table so it would feel like it wasn't taking so long, but even though it was. It's taking forever! He said quietly.

Lillian hesitantly answered the phone, she didn't exactly want to talk to Derek until she figured out the whole Jack thing, but since she had nothing better to do at the moment she stupidly answered. "Hello?" she spoke into the other end of the phone. She wondered what Derek was calling for and hoped that he just wanted to get together or something. She didn't want him to ask her anything complicated. In her viewpoint, Derek had blown it. They went on one 'date' and then he hasn't kept in touch, plus Jack was back and she was so in love with Jack.

" Hey, it's Derek. Look, before you say anything, I know, I blew it. I'm really sorry. There's no words in the human dictionairy that would tell you how sorry I am. But I was wondering if you'd give me a second chance and go to the prom with me. " Derek said in one breathe, smiling after finally breathing and finally telling Lillian. " And I don't blame you if you don't want to go with me. " That was a complete lie. Derek thought to himself. He was really mad at how he'd been reacting, but there was something bad that happened, and so yeah, he didn't have time to call, and he really regrets it. I hope Lily understands. Derek patiently waited in the moment of silence, and all he could hear is himself, deeply breathing.
